Quick answer
Four brands sell robot mowers with 4G built in in the US: Husqvarna, Segway Navimow, Mammotion and Dreame. How long the data is free varies a lot. Husqvarna says Automower Connect has no running costs and its SIM provides free connectivity for 10 years. Mammotion’s 2026 LUBA models and the Dreame A3 AWD Pro include three years. The Navimow X3 includes two to five years depending on size, and the Navimow X4 one or two. Several popular models, including the Navimow i-series, Mammotion YUKA mini 2, Ecovacs GOAT A3000 LiDAR Pro and Sunseeker X7, need a 4G module bought separately.
4G is the feature that turns a robot mower from a home-Wi-Fi gadget into something you can check from anywhere. It sends theft alerts and GPS location, lets you start or stop the mower from work or vacation, and on some models powers the network RTK that keeps the mower positioned. It’s also the feature most likely to cost you money later, because nearly every brand’s free data runs out.
This list covers which mowers have 4G built in, which need a module, and exactly how long each brand says the data is free. Terms come from each brand’s US pages. MowReview quotes no prices and hasn’t tested these mowers. How we research explains why.

1. Husqvarna Automower: the longest free connectivity
Husqvarna’s US support page is unusually clear: “The Automower® Connect service is free,” with “no running costs,” and “all data traffic is included.” The built-in Husqvarna SIM provides “free connectivity for 10 years,” as long as Automower Connect keeps supporting the network technology in your market and a provider remains available. Connected models use an eSIM, and Husqvarna says you can insert a local physical SIM if coverage is limited. Tractor Supply’s 420 iQ listing adds that the mower uses the national cellular network for its location data.
2. Segway Navimow X3: up to five years, by size
Segway’s US spec page lists two years of free 4G on the X330, three on the X350 and five on the X390. After that, a subscription keeps the 4G features. Segway also says a plan left expired for more than two years can’t be renewed, so don’t let it lapse if you’ll want it later. Navimow X330 vs X350 vs X390 covers the other differences.
3. Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD and LUBA mini 2 AWD: three years
Mammotion’s US 4G guide, dated July 2026, lists a built-in 4G module and three years of free data on its 2026 LUBA 3 AWD and LUBA mini 2 AWD models, for policies effective from January 5, 2026. After that, Mammotion sells 3-month and 12-month plans. Without one, the mower relies on Wi-Fi and “4G-specific features will no longer be accessible.” You can’t insert your own SIM or choose a carrier.
4. Dreame A3 AWD Pro: three years
Dreame’s US page lists built-in 4G with three years free on all three A3 AWD Pro sizes, with continued use after that requiring a separate purchase. The A3 AWD Pro also lists AirTag compatibility, with the AirTag bought separately.
5. Segway Navimow X4: one or two years of Connect+
Segway includes 4G on the X4, but the free period of its Connect+ service is shorter: one year on the X430 and two on the X450, then a yearly renewal. PCWorld notes that remote control and tracking need that subscription.
What about “lifetime free” Mammotion 4G?
In April 2026, Notebookcheck reported that Mammotion had made its iNavi network RTK and 4G permanently free for compatible mowers. That appears to apply to Europe. Mammotion’s US 4G guide, published later, still lists three years free on 2026 models and paid plans after that, and Mammotion US still sells 4G service plans. If Mammotion changes its US terms, we’ll update this page.
Mowers that need a 4G module
| Mower | How to add cellular |
|---|---|
| Segway Navimow i-series (i105N, i110N) | Access+ add-on module |
| Mammotion YUKA mini 2 1000H | 4G module bought separately |
| Ecovacs GOAT A3000 LiDAR Pro | GOAT Cellular Module Pro, sold separately |
| Sunseeker X7 | Optional anti-theft 4G-GPS module |

A module isn’t necessarily a dealbreaker. If your Wi-Fi reaches the whole lawn and you’re mostly home, you may never need it. But add it to the cost when comparing a module model with one that has 4G built in.
Do you need 4G at all?
4G earns its keep when:
- Your Wi-Fi doesn’t reach the whole lawn. Without a connection, you lose app control and alerts in the dead zones. See does a robot mower need Wi-Fi?
- You’re worried about theft. Live GPS tracking needs a connection when the mower leaves your network. See robot mower theft.
- You’re often away. For a second home or long trips, 4G is how you’ll know it’s stuck. See robot mowers for a vacation home.
- The mower uses network RTK. On some models, cellular data carries the satellite corrections, so you don’t need to install an antenna.
If none of those apply, Wi-Fi is enough, and the free 4G period matters less. Robot mowers with no subscription covers the other ongoing costs.
The picks
Longest free connectivity
Husqvarna Automower 410 iQ
- CellularBuilt in; Connect has no running costs
- Cutting height1 to 4 in
- Stated coverage0.5 acre
Husqvarna’s 10-year free connectivity puts it in a class of its own for long-term running costs. The 410 iQ is wire-free and cuts from 1 to 4 inches, so it suits almost any US grass.
Good for
- Owners who want no 4G renewals to remember
- Half-acre lawns of any common grass
Less good for
- Steep edges: Husqvarna rates it at 15% at the boundary
- Complicated shapes: Husqvarna rates irregular lawns at 0.25 acre
- The fine print: the 10 years depend on the network and a provider staying available
Five years free, for big lawns
Segway Navimow X390
- Free 4G5 years
- Cutting height2 to 4 in
- Stated coverage2.5 acres
The largest X3, and the Navimow with the longest free 4G. Segway says no local antenna is needed where its Network RTK coverage is available.
Good for
- Large lots with moderate slopes
- Tall-cut grasses such as St. Augustine and tall fescue
Less good for
- Steep acreage: all X3s are rated to 50% and are rear-wheel drive
- Moving things later: ResTechToday found moving the dock or antenna means remapping
- Bermuda or zoysia: it can’t cut below 2 inches
Three years free, no satellites needed
Dreame A3 AWD Pro
- Free 4G3 years
- Stated slope80%
- Navigation3D LiDAR plus cameras
Built-in 4G with three years free, all-wheel drive, and LiDAR navigation that doesn’t depend on satellite signal. Gizmodo praised its satellite-free navigation and handling of narrow spaces.
Good for
- Steep or treed lawns
- Owners who want an AirTag slot as a backup tracker
Less good for
- Lawn wear: Gizmodo found it more prone than the Navimow X430 to bald spots and ruts
- Obstacles: Gizmodo found object avoidance imperfect, and it mowed over daylilies
- Edges: Gizmodo still needed a string trimmer
Questions
Which robot mowers have built-in 4G?
In the US, we found built-in cellular on Husqvarna’s connected Automowers, including the 410 iQ, 420 iQ and 435 iQ AWD, the Segway Navimow X3 and X4, the Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD and LUBA mini 2 AWD, and the Dreame A3 AWD Pro.
Which robot mower has the longest free 4G?
Husqvarna. Its US support page says Automower Connect is free with no running costs, and its SIM provides free connectivity for 10 years, as long as the network technology and a provider remain available. Among the others, the Navimow X390 lists five years.
What happens when a robot mower’s free 4G runs out?
The mower keeps mowing, but the cellular features stop. Mammotion says its mowers then rely on Wi-Fi and 4G-specific features are no longer accessible. Segway says a Navimow X3 plan left expired for more than two years can’t be renewed.
Do I need 4G on a robot mower?
Not if your Wi-Fi reaches the whole lawn and you don’t need alerts away from home. 4G matters for theft tracking, alerts when you’re away, lawns beyond Wi-Fi range, and on some models network RTK positioning.
Can I put my own SIM card in a robot mower?
It depends on the brand. Mammotion says you can’t insert your own SIM or choose a carrier. Husqvarna says its connected Automowers use an eSIM but you can insert a local physical SIM if coverage is limited.
Is Mammotion 4G free for life in the US?
Not as of our check. European tech sites reported in April 2026 that Mammotion made iNavi and 4G permanently free, but Mammotion’s US 4G guide, dated July 2026, lists three years free on 2026 models and paid plans after that.
The short version
If you want 4G without thinking about renewals, Husqvarna’s connected Automowers stand out, with no running costs and 10 years of free connectivity. Among the rest, the Navimow X390 gives five years, the 2026 Mammotion LUBA models and the Dreame A3 AWD Pro three, and the Navimow X4 one or two. And if you’re buying a Navimow i-series, YUKA mini 2, GOAT A3000 or Sunseeker X7, budget for the module.
