Robot Mower Black Friday 2026: Is It Worth Waiting For?

Updated 5-minute read

Quick answer

Black Friday falls on Friday, November 27, 2026, with Cyber Monday on November 30. Robot mowers do get discounted, because November is the deadest point of the mowing year. The catch is that a discount on the wrong mower is still money wasted, so work out what your yard needs first, then judge the deal against the price history rather than the sale label.

Late November is a genuinely good time to buy a robot mower, for the simple reason that nobody is thinking about lawns. Retailers are clearing outdoor inventory they don’t want sitting through winter, and demand won’t return until March.

But it’s also the time of year when a “50% off” sticker does the most work on your judgment. This page is about buying well, not about chasing a date.

Black Friday is no longer a single day. Retailers now spread discounts from early October through Cyber Monday, so there’s little value in waiting for one specific morning.

Why robot mowers discount well in November

  • It’s the bottom of the season. Outdoor equipment sells worst in late fall, so there’s more incentive to move it.
  • Model years turn over. Manufacturers announce new mowers ahead of spring, which makes the outgoing model a genuine bargain, not a worse machine.
  • Stock has to be stored. A large mower taking up warehouse space until March is a cost.

How to tell a real discount from a staged one

We don’t publish prices on MowReview, because they change constantly and an out-of-date figure is worse than none. What we can give you is the method:

  1. Check the price history, not the sale badge. Free price-tracking tools and browser extensions show what an Amazon listing has actually cost over the past year. A “deal” matching the summer price isn’t one.
  2. Compare across retailers. Robot mowers are sold at Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart and direct from manufacturers. Check two or three before buying.
  3. Watch the model number, not the family name. Brands sell several sizes under similar names. A discounted mower rated for a quarter acre is no use for your half-acre lawn.
  4. Check what’s in the box. Some setups need extras. Husqvarna’s wire-free EPOS kit, for instance, is a separate purchase from the mower.
  5. Read the return window. This one matters more than usual, and it’s covered below.

The return-window trap

Buy a mower in late November and you probably can’t test it properly until March, because the grass isn’t growing and the ground may be frozen. By then the return window has almost certainly closed. Before buying, check the retailer’s return policy and whether it’s extended over the holidays, and at minimum unbox the mower, charge it, check for damage and confirm the app works while you can still send it back.

What to decide before the deals start

The discount is the easy part. The hard part is knowing which mower to point it at, and you can settle that in half an hour:

Write those four numbers down now. Then a sale becomes a simple question of whether a mower that fits is discounted, rather than whether a discount is tempting.

Our full buying checklist covers all ten things worth checking, and the main buying guide shows which mowers suit which yards.

Is last year’s model a bad buy?

Usually not. Robot mowers have improved quickly, and independent reviewers describe the earlier generation as held back by boundary wires, poor slope handling and getting stuck, while current models use laser scanning, cameras and all-wheel drive to manage terrain older mowers couldn’t. But that shift happened over several years, not between one model year and the next.

So a mower from the current generation, discounted because a newer version is coming, is often the best value on the table. What’s worth avoiding is a genuinely old design at a superficially attractive price, particularly one no independent outlet has tested.

If you don’t want to wait

There’s no rule that says November. Our guide to the best time of year to buy a robot mower covers the other windows, including the one most people miss: the end of the mowing season, when retailers clear stock and you can still test the mower on growing grass.

Questions

When is Black Friday 2026?

Friday, November 27, 2026, the day after Thanksgiving on November 26. Cyber Monday follows on November 30. In practice most retailers run promotions from early October through that weekend, so the single date matters less than it used to.

Do robot lawn mowers actually get discounted on Black Friday?

Late fall is the weakest point of the year for outdoor equipment, so there’s real incentive for retailers to discount. Check a listing’s price history rather than the sale badge, and compare across Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe’s and the manufacturer before deciding a deal is genuine.

Is it risky to buy a robot mower I can’t test until spring?

It’s the main drawback of buying off-season. Check the return window before you order, unbox and charge the mower straight away, confirm the app connects and look for shipping damage. Anything you can check indoors, check while returning it is still possible.
